Director “overwhelmed” by proceeds of freely donated lots toward helping brown trout habitat

Wild trout will benefit from the auction.

The Wild Trout Trust announced it was “overwhelmed” by the proceeds of its spring online auction. When bids closed on March 26, the Trust’s coffers had swelled by a record total of £92,622.

Lots which were particularly hotly-contested included fishing on Exmoor, Dartmoor, and also the Willow Brook in Northamptonshire.

Director Shaun Leonard said: “We are utterly overwhelmed by the support shown by our donors, bidders, members and supporters in raising a record £92,622… because we run our own auction website, 100% of the money, apart from any credit card fees, will be put to good use for wild trout and our river and lakes”.
All WTT auction lots are given to the trust for free, and Mr Leonard was keen to thank all donors.

The auction helps to fund the WTT’s work, providing practical advice for angling clubs and landowners and delivering ‘in river’ habitat improvement projects for the benefit of wild trout and all wildlife.
