Three Midlands stillwaters to open for fishing on March 29

Three of the Midlands stillwaters – in Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire – will open their trout seasons on Monday, March 29.

Ifor Jones, who runs all three waters, announced the news following the government's road map out of lockdown last week.

"I can confirm we will be opening Thornton, Draycote and Eyebrook on Monday the 29th March 2021".

As last season after lockdown rules eased, pre-booking and pre-payment of any boat or bank fishing will be required, along with a contact telephone number. Staff are at the lodges from 9.00am to accept bookings.

"The lodges and shops will remain closed until April 12 at the earliest, and social-distancing will still be in place for some time". Booking in and out will take place outside the lodge, permits will be picked up outside.

"Pontoon guidelines will be the same as we were operating during last year. Staff will allocate your boat number, restrict angler numbers on the pontoon to ensure social distancing. We will continue to disinfect boats and life-jackets after every session and provide hand sanitiser", added Ifor. Stocking of the fisheries has already started.
"We expect the phone to be busy", said Ifor.
