Jon Marshall to retire from Rutland Water

After 34 years as Fisheries Manager at Rutland Water, Jon Marshall will be retiring at the end of December 2019. Jon initially started at Rutland when the fishery was run by Roger Thom and then and latterly with Anglian Water.

Jake Williams, Head of Parks & Conservation, said: “Jon has been hugely influential in the development of our fisheries achieving so much over the years, delivering a great service to our customers and championing improvements to develop and improve our anglers’ experience, from getting their breakfast on arrival to leaving safely at the end of the day”.

Over the past three years Jon has been working on a part-time basis, operating closely with Anglian’s head rangers and ranger teams to pass over his extensive knowledge and experience, to help ensure that the park teams have a comprehensive handover. “He has worked that will ensure the fisheries, already regarded as amongst the best in Europe, remain in great hands for the next 34 years!”, added Mr Williams.

“I am sure Jon will stay in touch and see many of you around the fisheries. In the meantime we offer him our sincere thanks for all his efforts and energy and the very best wishes for the future”.

Jake Williams also promised to “formally send Jon off in an appropriate fashion early in the New Year, and we will circulate the date to those who would like to attend”.
