Derbyshire’s Carsington Water to open on Thursday

Carsington Water, in Derbyshire, has announced that it will reopen the fishery on Thursday, June 4 under new operating procedures, which includes an online booking system. After June 4, when the office re-opens, telephone bookings will also be taken.

The boat fleet has been reduced, and single man boats only are operating. All boats must be booked in advance. Two time-slots (check-ins at either 8–8.30am and 8.30–9.00) will be made available each day to help staff stagger the arrival of anglers social distancing at that time. Full day boats will only be available for one or two people, as long as they are from the same household. Derbyshire County Angling Club members can book a boat via the DCAC Boat option online, entering the club number in the comments box so staff can confirm the booking.

Anglers are also asked to observe social distancing guidelines when parking on arrival.

Only one person will be allowed on the jetty at one time. Once in the boat, motor out of the bay area immediately. Anglers wanting to ‘tackle up’ should do this out in ‘open water’.

On arrival back to the pontoon, staff ask that the boat is docked on the same side as departure. Returning boats may need to stay afloat and wait away from the jetty until it is clear. Anglers can use the usual catch return boxes, or alternatively email them to: flyfishing@carsingtonwater.com
All boats, equipment and life-jackets will be disinfected after every use. Anglers are advised to feel free to bring protective gloves and/or a face covering as well as hand sanitiser.
