BFFI 2021 awaits decision

The government's increasing restrictions on public meetings and movement – especially indoors – may have an effect on the British Fly Fair International, which is due to take place in mid-February 2021 at the Staffordshire Agricultural Showground. Following the increasing infection rate across UK, and the latest developments and actions on Covid-19 from Westminster, the BBFI has said that it will decide about the 2021 show on or before November 30.

Currently, BFFI is uncertain whether the current and future restrictions will allow it to proceed, and also the venue was identified earlier in the year as a site for Covid-19 cases during the height of the pandemic. As the infection rate increases, it is possible the site could be re-commissioned for this purpose by the government over the winter.

BFFI has issued the following statement.

"We do not know at this stage how/if the show may be affected. However, the BFFI team will continue to plan for 2021 until we have a definitive answer from the government and/or the venue as to whether we can proceed. In any case, we will make an absolute final decision by November 30, and announce our decision at that time.

"If we have a definitive answer before this, obviously the decision will be announced accordingly and as soon as reasonably practicable".

BFFI doesn't write off cancelling the show completely.

"It may be that we can proceed with some adaptations and/or extra precautions which we will consider on a practical/business basis and make a decision accordingly.

"Thank you for bearing with us and rest assured, we will prevail!"
