Anglian Water’s trout fisheries to open on April 1

Anglian Water has confirmed that its four fisheries – Rutland Water, Cambridgeshire's Grafham, and Northamptonshire's Pitsford and Ravensthorpe waters – will open for fishing from both bank and boat from April 1.

"It’s business as usual with our fish stocking, which has continued as planned, along with our annual boat maintenance programme", said an AW press release.

Due to details on the government's 'road map', all the fishery lodges will be unable to open until April 12 at the earliest. Therefore, all boats booked between the April 1 and April 11 will need to be pre-paid at the point of booking (similar to how the fisheries operated for much of last season).

Boat fishing will only be available for either single anglers or two anglers, with no three-man boats until further notice. Telephone bookings for boats between April 1 and 11 will only be taken after March 15 (any existing boats booked in for these dates will be honoured and the customer will be contacted for payment from 15 March).

Meanwhile, AW staff will be busy processing renewals for season tickets over the telephone, which will be completed by March 14. Anglian Water is calling for patience as its staff contact all 2020 season-ticket holders about renewing. For the booking of boats beyond April 11, email fishing@anglianwater.co.uk

Once the fishery's phone lines open anglers are requested to ring the respective lodge direct, with the exception of Ravensthorpe: its boats will need to be booked through the Pitsford fishing lodge until the water actually opens on April 1.

Meanwhile, Kent's Bewl Water has confirmed it will open on March 29.
