In our August 2011 issue we reported the welcome news that a salmon had been found in Yorkshire’s River Leven for the first time in 150 years. This has happened as the result of the weir at Leven Bridge which the EA built in 2007. The weir has allowed salmon to spawn in the river. On p35 John Gifford of the Hutton Rudby Fly Fishing Club outlined the work the Club has taken to improve the river.
Since then, the Club has continued to undertake valuable work on the river and on the fish pass at Potto Beck. The Club has put interesting footage on YouTube:
