Scottish show introduces special springer fishing ticket

The Scottish Fly Fair 2018 is setting new boundaries by having a limited amount of special tickets which not only allow admittance to the show, but also include some salmon fishing and tuition on a well-known Tay beat.
Fishing tickets for either a morning or afternoon session will be made available to ticket-holders over Friday 9, and Saturday, March 10 and will take place at Newtyle beat on the Tay, near Dunkeld.

At Newtyle, during the course of the two days, Silja Longhurst will be instructing along with gillie for the beat, Andrew Gunn. In 2006, Silja became the first female certified casting instructor in Europe within the Federation of Fly Fishers. Since then, she has been teaching between Hamburg and Copenhagen, giving casting courses for both keen single- and double-handed fly fishers. Silja also instructs regularly at the Copenhagen Flycasting Club and, if she is not out teaching or fishing, you will probably find her competing in a flycasting competition.

Places will be limited to a maximum of 15 people for each session, making the offer strictly limited to a maximum of 60 anglers in total. The £10 fishing ticket will then automatically gain entry to the Scottish Fly Fair for one day, which will be held over March 10 and 11, 2018 at Stirling Court Hotel, Stirling. Average catch for springers on the Newtyle during the month of March is 10, so there’s every chance of a fish for some lucky angler.
