Foremark cancels opening day following severe weather conditions

The opening date for Foremark Reservoir in Derbyshire, which was orginally set to be Thursday, March 1 has been cancelled and will now take place after the weekend. Heavy snowfall caused by the 'Beast from the East' weayher sytem which has swept snow and freezing temperatures all over the British Isles has affected delivery of trout and boat engines to the reservoir today, (Wednesday, February 28), and so the full stocking regime for the planned opening could not take place. Fishery Management (UK) therefore took the decision to cancel the opening date, and the fishery will now re-open on Tuesday, March 6.

"This will allow our suppliers extra time to ensure we have our planned pre-season stocking of 4,000 trout in the water and engines on the boats" said a press release.

The fishery advises calling the lodge on 01283 703202 before travelling in order to receive updates on conditions, or check the website:http://www.flyfishforemark.co.uk
