Hi Guys,

I wonder if you can help me with an answer relating to using veilings in salmon flies.

I have started to tie my own salmon flies over the past two and a bit years and the question I have about veilings is , simply put,
what are their function?

Are they only decorative , or a target point , for movement, or something else?

I wondered when they were first introduced and what was the thinking then and why are they still used now?

Grateful for your help

Tight lines and best wishes

Gavin
